Thanks Jenni, I'm glad it made you smile, that's always a good start. Unfortunately I have to close comments on older posts else the spam is unmanageable. Even though I've cut down spam comments dramatically I still have nearly 2,335 comments in my spam folder.

It is indeed amazing how much knowledge from the past we have forgotten. Although I am making that assumption as I don't actually remember, but it must be a lot :)

I always try to remember that baby steps are infinitely better than no steps at all, it helps to keep me going.

Thanks,
J.

I certainly prefer freelancing to being an employee, but for many freelancers there comes a time when they feel they must settle down and go back to being an employee again. That must be a sad day :)

Thanks,
J.

Hello Jason,

Once again superb post! Great reading, it brought a big smile to my face as I reflect on my present, recent, distant past and my experiences with high school education. I didn't attend college until later in my life and when I took my first position in am office I realised the teachings were from (back in the good old days) most of my studies now more or less forgotten. I do agree with your baby steps as well as, Lifelong learning - great posts. Pity I couldn't leave a comment.

I generally find it difficult to leave comments but you always seem to discuss areas that I have found difficult at one time or another. I do take baby steps - I find it's the only way to keep moving forward!

Many thanks Jenni

Good morning Jason,

You have hit on very familiar territory today. I have worked freelance most of my life and it suits me well. There are drawbacks certainly but I feel it allows me to utilize my knowledge & experience in various fields.

I work when I the work is in but can take time away when things are quiet!

Interesting to read. Many thanks!

An idea is worth nothing unless you do something with it. But you don't have to implement it yourself. The only way to protect your idea is to find out if it's patentable and then patent it, which can be expensive. However, this'll allow you to license the idea to companies who can produce, market and sell your idea in product form. It's a good way to make money with little ongoing effort from yourself.

I do like to tell it how it really is, even if it's not always what people want to hear. Hence the 'no B.S. part of my tagline.

I have a number of ideas which could be great but I have NO idea how to begin, make, do etc.
How much is just an idea worth? Anything? Where would I sell it w/o having it stolen?

The Rapstrap I mention in my list is a similar story. I saw it on the Dragons Den tv program in the UK a few years ago. It's so simple yet doing really well. It's used a lot in the electrical industry too for tidying up wiring. I believe they had one order totalling £36m a few years ago. However, like I said to Sorkey in another comment, the road to success as an inventor is often rocky, but when you make it you really can make it big.
